Halong Bay
Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a cherished travel destination in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, is a stunning natural wonder located in the north, near the Chinese border. The bay is adorned with approximately 1,600 limestone islands and islets, covering over 1,500 square kilometers of breathtaking scenery.
The name "Halong" which means "Descending Dragon" in Vietnamese, reflects the cultural significance of dragons in Vietnam. According to a popular legend, a majestic dragon and her children descended from the heavens to protect the Vietnamese people from invaders, unleashing fire and precious gems. After their victory, they chose to remain on Earth, giving rise to the enchanting landscape we see today. This myth not only enriches the beauty of Halong Bay but also deepens the connection between its natural splendor and the rich tapestry of Vietnamese culture.
